Missouri’s LIHTC Program

President Reagan understood government didn’t excel at building houses. In 1986 he established the nation’s first Low Income Housing program leveraging private investment & efficiency to meet a basic need.

  • 36,028 families are on the STL City waitlist for public housing & Sec. 8

  • 13,457 families are currently on the two main KC public housing waitlists.

  • The list has been closed since June 2014.

  • 27,000 applications were received in one week the last time it was opened.
